How do I synchronize an audio file to its accompanying PowerPoint? General Notes:
You need to have the PowerPoint ® program on your computer. The viewer will not allow you to edit the
PowerPoint ® program.
Step 1: Locate File & Save File
Click on the desired Safety Training topic (eg, Food Safety) from the list of topics and scroll down the results to find the desired Safety Talk.
Right click on the icon for the PowerPoint ® presentation for that Safety Talk and choose "Save Target as" and save the file to your Desktop (you may wish to create a folder to put your working files in). If the Safety Talk has a PowerPoint ® presentation, presentations ending in .pps have embedded audio, and presentations ending in .ppt do not have embedded audio. A dialogue box will then pop up asking you where to save it.
After you save the file, the downloading box will show, but only for a few seconds, so you have to watch carefully.
Step 2: Adding Audio to PowerPoint ®
If you use PowerPoint ® 2002/XP or PowerPoint ® 2003 follow these instructions. For PowerPoint ®
2000/PowerPoint ® 97 Click Here.
Go to the slide where you want the sound to begin playing:
Choose Insert, Movies and Sounds from file. then click Sound From File to insert the sound. Click OK to insert file. Choose automatically. If this step doesn't appear or if you are not asked this, don't worry, the next steps will let you set that (or double-check the settings if you were asked and said yes). If you don't want the sound icon to appear in the slide show, drag it just off the slide (looks like the speaker
icon in the purple circle). Right-click the sound's icon and pick Custom Animation from the popup menu. The Custom Animation pane will open and your sound file should be listed. Click the arrow directly to the right of the sound icon to pull down the various options.
Select Effect Options, and on the Effects tab, click the radio button beside Stop Playing after XXX slides. Put 999 in the box so the track will play throughout all your slides, even if you go back and forth among slides. PPT considers each transition a "slide," so you want to put a large number in there. Now check the settings in the Timing tab. To play automatically, the timing should be set to Start After Previous with a 0-second delay.Click OK to close the dialog box.
Instructions for PowerPoint 2000 and PowerPoint 97 ® (similar to 2000)
Go to the slide where you want the sound to begin playing
Choose Insert, Movies and Sounds, then click Sound From File to insert the sound. If you don't want the sound icon to appear in the slide show, drag it just off the slide.
Right-click the sound's icon and pick Custom Animation from the popup menu.
Click the Multimedia Settings tab and make certain that the object is selected.
Click to put a checkmark next to Play using animation order.
Click to select Continue slide show. This tells PowerPoint ® NOT to stop playing the sound when you move to the next slide.
Under Stop Playing, click After and dial in the number of slides you'd like the sound to play through. If you
want the sound to continue through the end of the presentation, dial in a really big number.
That's all there is to it. Your sound will now continue as you click through the presentation.

What if my printer shoots out an extra page with very little text on it when I am printing from SafetySmart Online?
That is a problem with the setting in your web browser. If you are using Internet Explorer, for example, you need to click on the little arrow beside the picture of the printer. Then click on print preview. Along the top of the page click on the second arrow and choose "shrink to fit." This should clear up the problem of that extra page.
My video isn't clear. How do I make it look better?
Your video may lack clarity because your settings need to be adjusted. To ensure you have the correct settings follow these steps:
Open the video and pause it.
With your cursor over the video, right click and select Options.
Under the Performance Tab select the Advanced button.
Make sure you have the following checked off.
Click apply and close the Options window.
Restart the video.

SafetySmart Online eLearning
Engaging, effective and easy!
Train employees in multiple locations more easily and consistently, without the high training, travel, or staffing costs often associated with in-person training.
With a library of over 150 safety and HR titles, and a powerful, easy-to-use- learning management system, eLearning from SafetySmart Online allows you to manage thousands of learners from a single web browser.
Engagingcourses ensure your training programs are relevant and professional, with dynamic Flash™-based animations, high-definition video, and studio-produced audio narrations that ensure at least one learner interaction for every three frames.
Effective content focuses on specific competencies for employees to practice on the job, not just how to pass a test or answer quiz questions. This practical approach means that when your employees complete training they are ready to use the skills they’ve learned.
An easy-to-use learning management system makes administration and reporting simple for anyone. Load employees, create learner groups, assign courses, and report on performance.
Meanwhile, your participants quickly find the learning assigned to them and can review their training history. There are no complex interfaces to figure out and no up-front investments in complex computer systems.
Best of all, like everything else in SafetySmart Online, you can combine eLearning together with in-person training and awareness tools to create a rock-solid safety training program.
